Introduction by Huston Smith An evening talk with ARJA RINPOCHE http://arjiagegeen.freeyellow.com Arja Rinpoche is Abbot of the Kumbum University, one of the Six Great Monasteries of the Gelugpa Order. This is the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, who is the founder of the Gelugpa Order of Vajrayana Buddhism. It is said that the first Arja Rinpoche was the reincarnation of Tsongkhapa's father; (the Tibetan word arja means father). One of Tsongkhapa's principal disciples was honored as the first Dalai Lama; another of his disciple's reincarnations became the Panchen Lama. The present Arja Rinpoche was recognized by the tenth Panchen Lama and the previous Jiaya Rinpoche, and was enthroned in Kumbum in 1952. He is one of the Eight Great Lamas (Maha Gurus) of the Gelugpa Order of Vajrayana Buddhism. He is, as he was raised to be, a Master of Buddhist Arts & Sciences; of Awareness & Cognition as it pertains to the laws of birth, death, and liberation in the sphere of the Human Potential.
